Working closely with MHN's chief physician executive, chief medical officer and chief nursing officer, he will align and monitor systemwide quality and safety priorities, support consistent standards of care, promote improvement efforts across hospitals and clinics and foster an environment that encourages innovation and consistent performance.

“Dr. Kilgore’s leadership will help strengthen our ongoing commitment to safe, high-quality care,” said Scott Raynes, president and CEO of MHN. “His experience and strategic approach to improvement will serve our patients, providers and communities well and will help position Marshall Health Network among the nation’s top-performing systems in quality and outcomes.”

Kilgore is a Wayne County, West Virginia, native who earned his medical degree from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he also completed his internal medicine-pediatrics residency. He completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases and a chief residency in quality improvement & patient safety at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He also completed a Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before returning to join Marshall’s clinical faculty in 2021. While at Marshall, Kilgore co-founded the West Virginia Antimicrobial Awareness initiative and continues to serve as medical director of Hoops Family Children’s Hospital.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue furthering MHN’s mission of advancing health, inspiring hope, and serving our community and beyond as CQO,” Kilgore said. “Together, we rise for those we serve.”
