In conjunction with partner facilities on campus, the Hoops Family Children's Hospital has earned accreditations from the following organizations:

The Joint Commission (TJC) the nation's preeminent hospital accreditation body, is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates and accredits more than 16,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. TJC standards are regarded as the most rigorous in the industry to recognize the highest level of quality patient care.

The Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, which houses our pediatric cancer program, is one of only 106 facilities in the nation to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to patients.

Cabell Huntington Hospital is the country's first Level II Joint Trauma Center, a status that is granted by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. We maintain trauma center verification by providing coverage for trauma emergencies, performing rigorous performance improvement and patient safety and offering trauma outreach education in the form of professional trauma training and public injury prevention.

Our Neurophysiology Lab is nationally accredited by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) based on quality management and policies. Only one other neuroscience lab in West Virginia has the accreditation from ABRET.

Cabell Huntington Hospital has been named a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery®, Hip and Knee Replacement® and Maternity Care from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield West Virginia for demonstrating better overall quality of care and patient results in spine surgery and hip and knee replacement.

The Radiation Oncology Program at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center is the first in West Virginia to be awarded a three-year term of accreditation in radiation oncology by the American College of Radiology (ACR), which is the nation's oldest and most widely accepted radiation oncology accrediting body. The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety.    

The Radiology Department is accredited by the American College of Radiology for its nuclear medicine and PET/CT (positron emission tomography-computed tomography) services and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanners. Additionally, Cabell Huntington Hospital's MRI service is now recognized as a "Center of Excellence" in compliance with standards set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Our Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, American Society of Cytopathology and the American Society for Cytology.

The Child Advocacy Center has received full accreditation from the National Children's Alliance, an accrediting agency for Children's Advocacy Centers across the country. 

Both the Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship and the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship - the first such program in West Virginia - are accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Awards

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was awarded the Center of Excellence of Excellence in Antibiotic Stewardship in Neonatal Care and the NICU Case of the Year Winner by the Vermont Oxford Network.

Cabell Huntington Hospital was granted the WVHA Hospital Quality Gold Honors and the Greatest Overall Total HOSPAC Award from the West Virginia Hospital Association for its commitment to quality.

The Children’s Hospital Association advances child health through innovations in the quality, cost and delivery of care. Representing more than 220 children’s hospitals, the Association is the voice of children’s hospitals nationally. The Association champions public policies that enable hospitals to better serve children and is the premier resource for pediatric data and analytics, driving improved clinical and operational performance of member hospitals.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is an organization that promotes the quality provision of health care by hospitals and health care networks through such efforts as promoting effective public policy and providing information related to health care and health administration to health care providers and the public.

 Hoops Family Children’s Hospital and WVU Medicine Children’s have partnered to raise funds for the children and families who seek care at their respective hospitals. Hoops Family Children’s Hospital will benefit from Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals® fundraising under the umbrella of WVU Medicine Children’s. CMN is a national organization that raises funds and awareness for its 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada.

Mountain State Trauma and Injury Prevention Coalition, an organization of trauma physicians, emergency physicians, trauma nurses, trauma registrars and injury prevention coordinators who represent trauma centers across the state. They advocate and promote safe practices and legislation that is geared to safety in West Virginia.
